About Covert Horizon
Covert Horizon brings the world's defence, security and geopolitical news together in one place. Every few minutes it gathers the latest headlines from trusted publishers, think tanks, defence ministries and foreign ministries around the world, so readers can follow what is happening without visiting dozens of sites.
What we do
- Collect headlines and short summaries from the public news feeds of more than 90 sources across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, the Indo-Pacific and Africa.
- Organise every story automatically by domain (air, land, naval, space, cyber, missiles, unmanned systems, industry, geopolitics), by region and country, and by the weapon systems it mentions.
- Credit and link every story to its original publisher. We show a headline, a short summary and an image link; the full article is always read on the publisher's own website.
Our sources
We draw on established defence publications, respected research institutes, and official government channels. Official statements from ministries are shown as what they are: the position of that government. Some sources reflect a particular national or political point of view; including them helps readers see how different countries and institutions describe the same events. Our indicators
The Global Tension Level, Conflict Watch and significance scores are worked out automatically from the volume and wording of recent news. They are informal guides to the news flow, not official assessments. In particular, the Global Tension Level is not the U.S. military's DEFCON level, which is classified and never made public.
Independence
Covert Horizon is independent and is not affiliated with any government, armed force, political party or defence company. The site is supported by advertising; advertisers have no influence over which stories appear.
